From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the group reach places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
